1964

Foundation

The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) was established on Janmashtami, August 29, 1964, in Bombay (now Mumbai) by M. S. Golwalkar, S. S. Apte, and Swami Chinmayananda, with the goal of protecting and promoting Hindu Dharma.

1969

First World Hindu Conference

The VHP organized its first World Hindu Conference in Prayagraj, bringing together Hindu leaders and organizations from across the globe.

1984

Ram Janmabhoomi Movement Begins

The VHP formally launched the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, advocating for the construction of a temple at the birthplace of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.

Formation of Bajrang Dal

The Bajrang Dal was founded as the youth wing of the VHP to mobilize young Hindus for religious and cultural activities.

1992

Pride Re-established in Ayodhya

The VHP played a key role in reestablishing the lost pride in Ayodhya by reclaiming the Ram Janma Bhoomi and the temple. The whole movement started in 1992.

2002

Gujarat Riots and Aftermath

Following the Godhra train burning incident, communal riots erupted in Gujarat. The VHP was accused of playing a role in mobilizing Hindu groups during the unrest.

2010

Allahabad High Court Verdict

The Allahabad High Court ruled that the disputed site in Ayodhya should be divided into three parts, with one-third going to the Ram Lalla deity represented by the VHP.

2019

Supreme Court Verdict on Ayodhya

The Supreme Court of India awarded the entire disputed land in Ayodhya to the Hindu side, paving the way for the construction of the Ram Temple.

2020

Ram Temple Construction Begins

Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, fulfilling the decades-long goal of the VHP.

2024

Ram Mandir Pran Pratistha

The historic Pran Pratistha ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was conducted, fulfilling a long-awaited cultural and religious aspiration for millions of devotees.

60th Anniversary Celebration

The VHP celebrated its 60th anniversary, marking six decades of activism in Hindu cultural and religious affairs.
